The auction house, Christies, held an auction where the David Gilmour’s “Black Strat” sold at an astounding price.
The Most Expensive Guitar
The “Black Strat”, bought in New York City in May 1970, and played extensively through the ’70s and into the ’80s, sold at auction for an incredible $3,975,000.
David Gilmour of Pink Floyd played this guitar on “The Dark Side of the Moon” (1973), “Wish You Were Here” (1975), “Animals” (1977) and “The Wall” (1979), and many other Pink Floyd hits.
Due to constant modifications, it is said that the only original hardware on the guitar is the pickup selector.
